Egypt set for high-powered launch to GEW
Egypt’s Global Entrepreneurship Week launch event will feature three government ministers and two newspaper CEOs among the keynote speakers at a conference/networking session in Cairo on Nov. 15.
Eng. Rachid Mohamed Rachid, Minister of Trade and Industry; Dr. Yousry El Gamal, Minister of Education; Dr. Hany Helal, Minister of Higher Education; Dr. Abdel Moneim Saeed, CEO of Al Ahram Newspaper; and Ibrahim El Meaalem, CEO of El Sherouk Newspaper will speak thorughout the day at the Grand Hyatt Hotel about various topics including policy, education, networking and the media’s role in entrepreneurship. co-hosted by the Middle East Council for Small Business and Entrepreneurship, the Industrial Modernization Centre, the Social Fund for Development, and the Egyptian Junior Business Association. More than 300 people are expected to attend.
The first ever Industrial Startup @ Arab World (ISAW) Competition will also showcase innovative, industrial entrepreneurial projects and leadership in Arab countries as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week, with a business plan contest that includes workshops, educational seminars, mentorship, small enterprise management, networking and more. ISAW was designed to create a pipeline of new and innovative small and medium enterprise ideas for industry.
Several stages of the competition have already taken place at the local level, including a training phase that mentors young entrepreneurs with skills like how to prepare a detailed business plan and industrial management. The final phase–the Ideas Marketplace & Arab World Finals–will be held in Cairo during the Week, including an Awards Ceremony attended by industry professionals and a variety of VIPs. The event is hosted by the Arab Science and Technology Foundation.
In total, there are 29 events taking place in Egypt during GEW.
